    Just seen a text from mutual friend. Apparently a heavy pile up in a Madison event.

    Yes his wife confirmed this last night. His team have updated that he is due to leave hospital today or tomorrow

    2 broken ribs and a collapsed lung, but should be out of hospital in a couple days.

    Anyone who follows cycling knows him as Cav, same as Geraint Thomas is known as G

    These guys are crazy when you think about it.
    Yes, the Grand Prix car and bike riders aren't the full shilling either IMHO travelling at much greater speeds but at least they have protection.

    Cyclists are a different breed. Geraint Thomas rode with a broken pelvis a few years ago. This year, fell off his bike dislocating his shoulder, got it popped back in and carried on riding.
