Some people with personal number plates get keyed
I'll own up. I've got one. I bought a vehicle in 2003 with the registration plate on it. I later found out it was worth £3500 so I have transferred it to my vehicles ever since.
Could make a grand a day on events . Hard work and non stop.
Generally we followed the markets ,£300 a day was fine on the markets but you needed to be in the right place.
Cwmbran was a no no , Chepstow was perfect , lots of Bristolians .
It wasn't all about the money though.
If someone was thinking of going into that business there is so much more money in meat and a larger audience.
I loved the whole thing , building the van , dealing with the customers . Unfortunately I have plans for my time
and working on weekends doesn't fit in.
It is very time consuming .
I do appreciate a good private number plate.
I have one that’s my name - but been on retention for 18 years!
But working in the motor trade they are a pain in the arse to administer on and off of vehicles, especially when the grantee and the nominees don’t match up.
Also the time delay in getting the replacement retentions and V5C.
I know a couple of people with food vans, it's all about the pitch. Get the right one and the food doesn't even have to be that great (but obviously helps for repeat customers and word of mouth business)
The one in ponty b&q is awful but they always look busy, they close early enough as well so must be making their money.
