However Channel 4 is interesting in that it is publicly owned but financially Independent.
Last year it made £100m profit and the CEO got paid close to £1m. All the profits go back into the business.
Surely some of the profits should go to the shareholder(s)...in this case UK Gov as the only shareholder.

That's a huge salary for the voluntary sector
I think that salary stacks up against others for a company of that size, turnover close to 1bn. just because the government is the shareholder, doesn't mean they operate outside of the wider market pressures.
it reinvests a lot into the UK creative industries, I don't think it needs to pay it's shareholder a dividend, it is better off supporting the industry in the UK

Not everyone's strengths are displayed in being faultless on videos, especially when they are inevitably edited got distribution on social media.
She's very determined from what I gather and like a dog with a bone. Growing up in on a Liverpool council estate probably does that.
Some of what she says on cultural matters, such as 'cancel culture' and an increasingly puritanical TV Culture that lacks diversity of opinion is important.
Lots of people just don't like strong women...

Nothing wrong with rewarding politicians who agreed with honouring the largest democratic vote in history. Shameful it took so long and god help us if the uncertainty had continued.
And she is a published novelist so probably has more experience of the arts and culture portfolio than most politicians who take on cabinet roles.

Nearly everyone will if you film them for several hours and then wait for them to slip up. This is why context is so important and why social media is so bad for trust in politicians.
Most people make errors under pressured or intense questioning.
She appeared to me to be waffling, I watched the next video as well . The girl next to her was pulling things round for her .
I get this thread had specifically been started to mock her , which isn't a particularly pleasant thing to do .
But she is waffling . If she was new to the game then fair enough , she is supposed to be on top of her game .
I admire women that get to the top , in any walk of life . I accept woman at the top is under much more scrutiny than a man usually .I don't think she is doing anything for the cause .
