England players just don't know what's hit them.
The ball is bouncing, swinging, seaming and all being delivered by proper pace.

With Stokes their talisman just gone.
This is going to be a tough day or two.

    Currently 30 for 4.
Was gonna go up but there's too much going on!

    Re: The Ashes 2021/22

147 all out and now it’s raining, so Australia don’t have to bat in dodgy conditions. What I didn’t know was that England won the toss!

Unbelievable decision to bat first but in all honesty ,had Root elected to field it would have only papered over the cracks.

Poor England side. Poor captain and awful management set up.

Leaving Broad out as well is complete lunacy.

Australia would have also batted first if they had won the toss, according to Cummins.

Shambles of a first day, tone sadly set for the remainder of the tour.

I'd heard that too which is curious because the commentators were saying that the pitch gets better to bat on days 2 and 3.

Could it be that the Aussie propaganda machine worked a treat?

It could of course be a case of their attack being much better than England's batsmen and there is no guarantee that the had England chose to field that the Aussies wouldn't have built up a commanding score before the weather turned.

Turns out it was a toss that as a captain you'd want to lose.

England are haunted by Nasser Hussein winning the toss and putting Australia in on a beautiful Brisbane morning about twenty years ago, but this was not a beautiful morning, it was cloudy with a threat of rain and the pitch had a tinge of green to it. It’s hard to think of conditions which would more merit putting the opposition in, especially when, as you say, historically the Brisbane pitch tend to be a bit of a batting paradise in the middle days of a test match.

    Marvellous first day.

    Long may it continue.

England coming close. Edge from Marnus that didn't quite carry. Stokes bowls Warner, but turns out he'd overstepped massively !! I thought the aussies would be finding it a lot more comfortable

England have bowled brilliantly. Could easily be game on. A game a multimeters, played out over 5 days. Brilliant

The way they've taken leach apart could cause problems mind. Hot day, those quicks are going to get very tired of leave can't bowl a few from one end

    Re: The Ashes 2021/22

Every time I’ve watched a few minutes overnight, they’ve been playing in bright sunlight - England have done pretty well on day two so far, but the decision to bat looks more wrong by the hour.

    Re: The Ashes 2021/22

Third day probably went as well as England could have hoped for with joe Root and David Malan both unbeaten in the eighties as they reached 220-2, some fifty eight runs behind the Aussies - still a lot more batting to be done for England to become truly competitive in this game, the new ball, which is due in ten overs time, will be the great opportunity for the Aussies to maintain their superiority.

    Re: The Ashes 2021/22

Decision to bat looks a poor one. But it was probably a toss both captains would have been happy to lose.

Seeing Warner make 90 odd with Broad who really had his number stuck in the changing room is unforgiveable.

The side minus Archer and Stone as other fast bowling options plus poor prep due to Covid meant this squad with a weak batting line up were always up against it. Off field decisions needed to be perfect to compete and theyve so far fecked that up as well.

    Re: The Ashes 2021/22

Fair play to England for fronting up. I watched the first session last night, was half expecting to wake up and see that Australia had wrapped up the victory. still time to build a good lead, maybe leach can turn it around and bowl the aussies out on day 5
