I watched Die Hard over Christmas last year. Haven't seen it in years. Good film. Not a Christmas movie though.

Despite knowing it off by heart now, I always try to watch it at Christmas- hope it’s going to be on again in the next couple of weeks.

It's a good film, enjoy it whenever I watch it.

Not sure why so many old films are the greatest ever though.

    It's the same with music.

People stuck in a time warp.

Most modern films are formulaic crap (ditto music), rehash of the old classics, or sequels (or all three, as in the Oceans series.)

    Well it's all subjective

I guess you could also make an argument that for a film to still be relevant/watched almost 70 years after its release there's got to be something special about it

I didn't mention modern films and if they were good or bad.

    Never seen it

It's about a bloke thinking of ending it all isn't it ?

I normally end up watching The Shining or The Good , The Bad and the Ugly at Xmas

    In my string vest

Like I said, it's a good film. That's probably why it's still watched 70 years later, and probably the fact that things like Christmas traditions are passed down, I watched it because my parents watched it and so on.

Come on now that’s absolute shite

There might be a lot of formulaic crap but some of the best tv shows, movies and music have been produced fairly recently.

People forget the shit that comes out and only remember the good ones.

That why everyone looks back with such nostalgia because the average and terrible movies and songs get forgotten.

    Wonderful film.

Another Christmas film often overlooked, also starring the magnificent Jimmy Stewart, is 'the shop around the corner'.

Set in a department store in Budapest.

    The dialogue is very sharp.

    A lovely film.

Isn't that what "you've got mail" was based on?

My favourite Christmas Film over recent years has been "Joueux Noel" based around the cease fire during World War One.

Seeing as it's set on Christmas Eve and he's in LA to see his family, I was actually surprised at the low number of Christmas references. But if you want it to be a Christmas movie, that's fine with me.
