If any particular club develops a negative reputation (e.g. Leeds in the 1970's) how long does antipathy towards that team and/or its fans last if there is no subsequent damage to their reputation? The antipathy towards Nottingham Forest fans and, more recently, Derby County as a club, are other examples.

Doesn't it just? It's so hard. Remember how good Watford were when we were in the PL? It's easy to think that it's just about staying up the first season. But it never ends. I don't like Leeds, but I admire what they've done. I'd think I'd rather be a Leeds fan than a Burnley fan.
