My two granddaughters have just been asked if they need lap tops for learning at home in the new year

    Looks like schools are shutting

Not good signs for the rest of us

I am pretty close to quite a few teachers and havent heard this. Not that it would surprise me, but I think they will all ne taking stock on how dangerous the Omicron variant is.

These dates just appear to be inset/teacher training days according to the end of term communication I just had.

It's no coincidence that the lines of people waiting for jabs has increased since it was said a third jab would see it off

    It's painfully obvious

Had an email from my sons school, looks like they are allocating couple of days to assess staff sickness and plan. Not necessarily anything more.

From reading the article that's what the 2 days are designed for. Schools won't know how many staff will be off, either isolating or sick, so don't want kids turning up on the first day with no one to teach them.

It’s more like how many staff can’t come back after xmas due to having caught it I think….

"Schools will have two days at the start of the new term in January to plan for pupils' return and the possibility of moving to remote learning."

Zero deaths in Wales in latest figures.

Don’t even live in Wales but will be annoyed if they close everything down

I find the news here increasingly sensationalist and for the purpose of entertainment.

They latch into something and milk it for all its worth before moving on. This Christmas party for instance, every day its something else about it, allocating so much time to reporting on it at the expense of other things that are happening now.

I periodically try to avoid all news and it really doesn't effect me negatively where as consuming all the doom and gloom certainly does.

It’s definitely taken on a mind of its own, not sure they realise the harm it does to a lot of peoples health and well being? Plenty of people I know don’t even watch it anymore. Life is a lot better without it and SM.

Less than 500 in hospitals with it, same as August.

I see the deputy Chief Medical Officer has said That all those who were shielding shoud carry out ther own Risk Assessment before going anywhere.

Bit of buck passing going on there I think!

Sounds pretty sensible to me. People are at different levels of risk.

Exactly. Jesus Christ, if people need the government to tell them how to safely go to the shops then I would say that it is unsafe for them to go to the shops. Or probably the toilet.
