40% of all assists in this team this season.
but most of all there aren't too many other good candidates.
a young Joe Ledley is a good call.
Declan John seems like he might have been a better wing back than a full back or winger, bit probably not as effective as Giles has been.
Joe Bennett was good there as well. Probably a decent case for famous diarist Mark Kennedy as well

We haven’t got a great deal of candidates though have we when it comes to natural wing backs because we barely ever played with them until 2021. I can remember Joe Bennett playing there at Huddersfield a few years back and scoring twice and he also scored the winner at Rotherham in the snow last season, I think he could have had a good career playing there, but he was a full back first and foremost. I can’t think of anyone I’ve seen in the timescale Rjk talked about who could be described as a natural wing back, but Giles seems to be one - he looks more at home there than where McCarthy was using him.

All left sided though, strange how we struggle to find good right backs as well as right wing backs.

Brayford had a reputation for getting forward well before he came to Cardiff, but not really possible to put him in the side.
it probably isn't a big surprise that weve only played with wingbacks for about. season total out of the last 20, so the main specialist positions we are struggling to fill.
Fabio came to mind as well, but we'll never know if it would have worked

Fabio’s a good shout because he could play either side and he’s one of our full backs who you could imagine making a decent job of the wing back role. Brayford was good at Derby, but I’d say he was far more an attacking full back.

    Re: 3-4-3 / 3-4-1-2

OK, I'm going for any of the teams anyone has suggested but with Fabio instead of Giles. It's hypothetical so I'm playing my proper Joker now (as opposed to my lower case joker [Noone] earlier). I just can't bring myself to pick Giles over anyone who's played a full season.

Also. It'd be a tad more challenging if no loan players were allowed if we're not allowed players who weren't at their peak etc. I'm only saying this and making up the rules as we go along so it fits with my own personal choices. I'm going to play dirty because I'm p*ssed off at the Coventry match being postponed and I'm in a bad mood.

You're right. I remember that Bennett game when he scored two. There was a lot of discussion at the time about the WB role and the way forward.

Swap loovens for mozza and put Alexander in goal and I'd take that.

I was surprised that no one had mentioned him before tbh. Also included Adam Matthews as I still remember his surging run and shot against (I think) Leicester, and what could have been the greatest goal ever.
