Thread: Switch cup game to Preston?

    Switch cup game to Preston?

Should we offer to move the cup game to Deepdale?

Think gate receipts are split in the cup so could earn a few quid.

    Think it’s been done before

it's not a great look trying to circumvent covid rules to make a few quid though.
what if someone catches covid at the game and dies, would the club be liable?

Would make sense, looks like we will be fielding a 2nd or 3rd team anyway.

Why? Its perfectly legal in England to have as many people as you want in as crowded a place as you want. How on earth would the club be liable?!

Let's keep to just debating the practicalities for/against the move.

I'm personally against it, EastbourneBlue. Like RJK said, imagine the problems it could cause the club if someone becomes seriously ill and it's linked back to the fact that the fixture was moved - even if their illness had nothing to do with the move, fingers would be pointed nonetheless.

Can’t see it’s any different from the club selling tickets to any away game really.

People choose to go, or they don’t

Boris is likely to follow Wales and Scotland in a "behind closed doors" edict for sports before then, so it becomes irrelevant.

Might be wrong but can’t see it happening in England. Think Boris is under too much pressure from his cronies

Plus you can only change for safety reasons and not for financial benefit.
Otherwise most teams who drew the likes of Man Utd or Liverpool at home would change to play away for a far better payday.

What would our share of a 4k gate be?

I can't help but think that the decision for premium league games next week has something to do with all of the games being on Amazon Prime.
How much compensation would need to be paid to them if the games were postponed ? It's half of their package for the season.

How do you prove where someone caught it and how do you take legal action against someone who hasn't broken the law ? Plus how can someone who chose to do something voluntarily, sue someone else because something went wrong during that event. Explain please.

Re: Switch cup game to Preston?

I think the club can’t really complain about the measures for the next 2 games. One is self inflicted as it was postponed anyway, the other was due to be a very poor turnout due to neglect of the competition for over a decade.
