Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Stevie Wonder and Tom Jones would be on my shortlist. Picking 2 from that would be tricky.

The late Jimmy/James Dewar of the Robin Tower band plus Pavarotti, Michael Mcdonald, Tom Jones or Paul Rodgers.

Paul Rodgers- the best voice I’ve ever heard live on stage. There is no one better.
    Great choice Cyclops

Yeah, I was tempted to go with Dewar.

At the moment Sam Cooke and Stevie Wonder are probably top of my pops, but tomorrow it might be Jackie Wilson and Joe Williams. Or George Jones and Hank Williams. Hard work this "best" thing.

Yeah agree that David Gates had a great voice. Apart from his chart hits with Bread, Diary is a fantastic song and very poignantly sung. Great to play on guitar too.

Groucho singing ‘Lydia, the tattooed lady’ gets me every time as well. Some dancer as well.
