Ha ha, brilliant. If that were the case there would be thousands who would be exempt.

Fair play Australian government having decent smash at the Djokovic PR gift.

Surely all could have been sorted one way or another before he got there.

My friend is seeing a chap who is a UK-based Australian citizen and after two attempts he managed to get a visa to enter Australia on the proviso that he spent two weeks in an hotel there quarantining (and he had only positive tests all along and had been vaccinated). I would imagine that people like him could be a tad miffed if non-vaxxed individuals simply circumvent such procedures.

Entering another country means that you play to their rules doesn’t it? Choice doesn’t come in to it, if the rules say you have to be vaccinated or have a valid medical reason surely you need to divulge the reason. I’m certain when questioned at passport control, or whatever, when asked for your vaccination status that saying “I’ve not been vaccinated because it’s my choice” would result in a refused entry.

15 other unvaccinated players and officials have been allowed in though

In the article it says that the medical condition that hopes to allow exemption is disclosed to two medical panels who decide yay or nay. Perhaps the 15 disclosed their medical reason and had the thumbs up. If Djokovic discloses his and it’s genuine perhaps he’ll get in, says it’s done anonymously so his outspoken views on vaccinations won’t come to light to the two panels.

I've read this exchange a few times and still don't understand the point you are making.

Goats' question seeks to understand the reason why Djokovic considers himself exempt from the vaccination requirements to enter Australia.

Your answer seems to be because he has a choice.

Everybody else thinks that just because he chooses to remain unvaccinated means he can't get into Australia on that reason alone.

    Are we missing something?
