    Re: Benitez Gone

Yep let’s hope so. It would certainly hit Derby.

Chairman who appointed him has a lot to answer for.

This was never going to work with his comments about them in the past.
Why do chairmen/boards never listen to fans?

Can't believe how much money they've wasted. Now they've let Benitez sell a good player in digne, and spend 25mill on replacements just before being sacked.

This. It's hard to believe they hadn't considered sacking him before January 1st. Just pull the ****ing trigger. I can't believe that clubs are not looking for alternative managers at all times. It should be someone's job.

He has earned the colours managing Derby to where they are , certainly suggests he has good man management skills.

So every club should employ someone to constantly research potential managers. That'll instill confidence and camaraderie

It would be the director of football's job, but Benitez fell out with him so he went

It would be foolish for a club not to have a list of potential managers at all times, anything can happen.

It doesn't have to be an open secret. But would it not make sense? It would have saved us from Mick McCarthy. It may have saved us from being relegated from the EPL if we had a competent manager at that level lined up.

Couldn't agree more. Sometimes when managers are sacked and a replacement arrives the following day, people criticise the club for going behind the incumbent's back. I just don't understand that. Surely performance evaluation is ongoing. Where performance is going well, someone should have a shortlist of replacements in the event the current guy is poached. If it's going badly, you'd hope a club would, as a minimum, start talking to people on that list before getting rid of the incumbent.

Our club isn't very well run any more so this sort of basic contingency planning is a pipe dream. But surely other clubs must think this way.

Can’t recall the Everton owners name, but he must have learnt his trade in the same place as our vinnie, absolutely clueless when it comes to running a football club and it’s cost him half a billion already I hear….
