Awful WOL reporting as usual. They say it is a fighter jet.

That just doesn't seem like a regular WOL article. Must have been copied and pasted surely?

Well, it was a fighter jet - apart from the jet bit..

I think the first fighter jet to enter service was the Me 262 in 1944.
If they had brought it into service in 1942 (as per the article) it may have changed to outcome of the war.

A Polish air ace gave a talk at a school after the war- he related how he shottwo Fockes in the Battle of Brittain.
"Now children", said the teacher, "a Focke was a type of German aircraft!"
"That;s right miss" said the pilot
    "These fockes were eMesserschmitts!"

I have an American friend who has that surname (and who is the wardrobe lady of Fleetwood Mac, Bette Midler, Lenny Kravitz etc.)
