    Re: Taylor Hawkins

Wow tragic and sad irony for Dave Grohl who was the drummer for Nirvana when Kurt left .

These rock drummers live a very fast life, their physical efforts are crazy when playing live, makes you wonder what keeps them going , and dying so young .

RIP Taylor..... thoughts go to band, family and friends..
He was an excellent drummer and id imagine it will be tough for Dave Grohl to deal with who had to deal with loss of Kurt Cobain in possibly similar circumstances as there has been no official statement on cause.
Have tickets to see them in June but there has to be doubts about that happening now .

Awful news this morning, I also have tickets to see them in June in Madrid, and London in July. As you say, they may not go ahead. Where are you due to see them?

    Re: Taylor Hawkins

Grohl should obviously take the drum thone and beat the shite out his songs. It would be the best way to pay respect to Talyor

    Re: Taylor Hawkins

Gutted when hearing the news this morning.
Excellent drummer when you consider the pressure he must have been under to impress Dave Grohl to get the job.
Though back to a little spatt he had with Axl Rose years ago.
Axl was trying to wind him up and asked Taylor "what's its like to be the second best drummer in the Foo Fighters?"
Quick as a flash Talor asked him
"Probably the same as being shit without Slash in Guns n Roses" 😃

I read 10. And it said "opiates". Which could be painkillers. And could be black market pills made with fentanyl.

When Guns n Roses first hit the scene they were immense.
Saw their Monsters of Rock performance at Donnington and they blew everyone else away.
Unfortunately too many loose cannons in the band.
Steven Adler was sacked soon after for hitting the booze and drugs too hard and Axl and Slash were at each others throats.
Great double album followed but then Izzy Stradlin left and he was the unsung hero of the band.
Did the donkey work on most of their best songs.
Never got anywhere near Appetite for Distruction and Use your illusion 1 and 2
    after that.

Izzy Stradlin was the greatest member of that band.

I thought they were an Aerosmith rip off

Certainly good musicians but I didn't like them and thought they were over hyped

    His voice was dreadful

They were like a lot of crash and burn bands , some early promise but couldn't match it

True...but now it sounds like a cocaine OD. The word on the streets of Laurel Canyon is...that he had 7 years clean and moved away from his sober companions about 3 years ago and tragically paid the price.
    RIP - fellow

    What's Laurel Canyon ?

He must have been using high grade cocaine if it was strong enough to give him a heart attack

Chest pains and his reported enlarged heart would certainly seem more in line with coke. I've heard of heroin users falling off the wagon and resorting to dope AND crack. I've known a couple of people who died like that.
