Always thought with a bit of canny marketing you could advertise a lot of the towns on the heads of the valleys as cheap/competitive alternatives to stay as a base for excursions into the Beacons.

Other places seem to do it, near seaside resorts etc so why not

Probably people using it as a base to explore the Beacons over Easter, and will drop off the list in a couple of weeks.
Similarly, Aintree won't be on the list soon either.

Ireland do it fantastically well. Not us. Look at Caerphilly Castle, it's unbelievable, if that was in Ireland it would be marketed brilliantly, the irish tourist board wouldn't let you leave the place, Not us, we build a home bargains opposite it.
