“Fortress Cardiff City Stadium”? A sick joke.

Injury ravaged Luton show City what can be achieved on a small budget.

Huddersfield, Luton, Millwall, Forest and Blackburn have made progress into the top-8 so far this season, most of whom I'd hazard a guess have relatively small budgets.

Last night I checked out the Luton squad in full. It was full of those type of players that you'd say 'he could do a job for us', but we never seem to get. Re. your point about our job being harder than Luton and Huddersfield faced last year is so pertinent. I remember getting a lot of grief [and laughs] last season when City were just outside the play offs and Huddersfield were rock bottom. I said Huddersfield had a much better chance of going up than us. They were losing games, true, but had a group of good footballers and all it needed was to add to the squad whilst keeping the same footballing standards. City don't just have a mountain to climb, they have an entire mountain range. McCarthy knew this, Harris knew this, and that's why we had the 'strong defence and balls and set pieces into the box' strategy - it was just too much, too risky, to change things around.
