Tenby and Saundersfoot are not on a Cardiff doorstep, but if you're going that far Barafundle Bay and Freshwater East and west are the best.

When you're that dedicated to spending sod all on days out, may I suggest you add a featureless stroll around several reservoirs and Treforest's Trading Estate to your tightfisted itinerary.

    What a cheapskate you are!

Penrhys is good if you like windswept places.
Isn’t it one of the windiest places in the British Isles?

I know you aren’t serious but the Gower is beautiful. Probably a lot better than those you have quoted.

Absolutely but I can't be arsed with all the walking and lack of shops and a chippy on the gower , beautiful though it is

In Tenby you can go out on the beers if that's your thing , piss about down the beach , have a pub lunch , browse the shops or even have a curry

It doesn't get much better than that

Last time I visited Caerphilly Castle and St Fagans in 2016 both were free entry. The latter's always worth a gander, be more so when the Vulcan boozer is rebuilt.

How could you miss Ogmore (the beach) off your list? The Gower is great provided you have transport. I love walking parts of the Brecon & Monmouth canal. Chepstow is a great place to spend an afternoon, it has a lovely castle as well. You can't beat the Wye Valley either, especially Tintern Abbey and a walk up to the Devil's Pulpit. Loads of lovely palces to walk in mid-Wales too

I went to a living Wales festival at St Fagans a few years back

A woman I was with thought it was great to see all these people dressed up in clothes from way back but I thought it was bollocks so went home and had a kebab .

The Valleys are beautiful with amazing scenery and views

Nantymoel at the head of the Bridgend valleys is worth a trip

But it's a bit of a slog to get up there

So given the choice whilst I think Wales has beautiful places to visit I am a lazy sod and prefer to head to the coast than hike up pen y fan with a bunch of students

Well, I know the unadulterated, warts an' all version of what occurred that day. I also know she's still receiving psychological counselling.

The only good thing about Nantymoel is the road out of there.

St Fagans is a lovely day out, got to be 5 hours entertainment

We went late last summer and a lot of it was closed ( due to Covid stuff ) but still had a good time, the guy who normally does the tours of the terraced houses through time is a Jack, loves a bit of football banter

Big Pit is a nice day out aswell, try and get chatting to the old miners who work at the place, fascinating stories about life down the pits

I forgot to mention Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls Walk, particularly the waterfall you can walk behind (it's name escapes me right now). An absolutely beautiful part of God's Country
