My uncle used to take me down there every week when I was in junior school. It was great to see the docks so busy, and also looking at different ships from all over the world. To a small boy it was magical.
My dad used to take me around the docks almost every week, you could buy a surprising amount of thing right off the ships and going to the engine sheds there was always enjoyable.
Happy times...
Great pics. As a kid in the early 70s i remember going down when my dad was doing cable joining in fruit sheds. Would see all these huge crates of oranges and stuff. Years later i joined the merchant navy and did 34 years. Only went to Cardiff docks once and that was to join a ship on sailing day.
