The shirt Diego Maradona wore when he scored the 'Hand of God' goal and much vaunted 'goal of the century' for Argentina against England at the 1986 World Cup has sold for a record £7.1m.
It is the highest price ever paid for a piece of sports memorabilia.
Former England midfielder Steve Hodge put it up for auction 36 years after he swapped it with Maradona following the famous quarter-final in Mexico.

WOW, Nice little earner for Steve Hodge
Worth every penny - it's priceless 🙂
I read somewhere that one of Maradona's relatives (his daughter, maybe) was claiming that this wasn't the actual shirt, as Diego had changed shirts at half time, and what Hodge had, was the one he changed into - AFTER he'd scored those goals. Not sure how he did that, being as he scored both goals in the second half of the game.
There a feature on BBC breakfast this morning.
Argentina shirts for that tournament were made of cotton. He thought it was too hot to wear them, so got the kit man to go to a local sports shop to buy a set of thin shirts. He came back with this kit. They're fake Le Coq Sportif and the quality is shocking. The badges were cut off old kit and sewn on by hand (they're different badges to the rest of the Argentina kit that tournament). Also the numbers on the back aren't white - they're glitzy silver as they were meant to be used by a team of cheerleaders.
The chap on the programme also said that if you've got a 1988 Netherlands shirt (the orange diamond design), it's probably worth up to a grand. Check your wardrobes.
The shirt worn by the greatest player scoring the greatest goal.
Mexico 86 Maradona was unplayable.
I’ve got the Cardiff City FA Cup final shirt, still with labels on it and EFL badges , might be worth a few quid in a few years ?
If VAR had been around in 86, Hodge would be £7.1m lighter today 😂
