"A Tory MP has been branded "out of touch" for saying people needed to learn how to cook and budget "properly", rather than use food banks."

He's absolutely right. A foodbank that teaches people how to cook well with ingredients is a better one than one that doesnt.

Great example of a bad headline from the BBC aiding the culture war, and the usual pile ons, but he is spot on

The food at foodbanks is provided free.

The idea is to make the food last longer and get the maximum nutrition from it, and so that if you have £10 or £5 or £3 spare, that you can make the most out of that.

Quite obviously, helping people who are hungry to maximise the use of food is a good thing, even if it it within the context of foodbanks generally being a negative.

Great optic this: out-of-touch millionaire politician wanker patronizes the poor and indigent.

Out of interest, when do you think was the last time the no-mark Tory cooked for himself?

Fair play to you, Jimbo, you are as assiduous in defending the Tories as Lavrov to Putin.

Textbook stuff. Avoid the points being made and make some loose comments about millionaires, oh and make some cheap comment about Putin too. A+ Prof! The MP in question is a former miner and he is suggesting that food banks where people are enrolled on budget and cookery courses are better than those that don't. Do you disagree?

Not well positioned , but there are some points to it that may help some , what we need is no foodbanks .

Thought his was good reply from Crabb, the Preseli Pembrokeshire Tory MP who was work and pensions secretary in 2016, tweeted:

“Conservatives tend to emphasise work, good budgeting/housekeeping, strong families etc as defences against hardship.

“Problem right now for many people is that ticking all those boxes still doesn’t keep their heads above water. Government has done a lot but more is required.”

If I was Labour or opposition MP's or media I woudl take up his challenge and visit and report on it , perhaps there maybe some grains of usefulness or lessons to be learned .
