Thanks for posting that, you're right it was an interesting read. I knew of Reep before today and had him down as a long ball merchant, but, as stated in the article, his approach seemed to be more about high pressing than anything else. The other name from the past I knew of when it came to criticisms of a basic, long ball style was Charles Hughes who was the Director of Coaching at the FA for a while and, for a lot of people, did more harm than good in the role - he was all about getting the ball into POMOs (positions of maximum opportunity) as quickly as possible whereas Reep's approach seems a bit more about winning the ball in attacking areas.

I read about him several years ago. Not just Wolves in the late 50's/early 60's, but also the likes of Wimbledon were influenced by his research. And yes, no doubt Warnock & McCarthy in later years.
