They’re Nottingham Forest. They’re the team of Nottingham. Notts County are the team of Notts, Nottinghamshire. They’re not Notts Forest

    Re: Notts Forest

Seems they have ambition to give it a good go next year and it shows they have faith in the manager.

BTW, whether referring to them as "Notts Forest" is right or wrong, I have definitely heard them called that before.

Yes, it is Nottingham Forest. However, here are some facts: -

Nottingham Forest play at the City Ground, which is in the County.

Notts County play at the County Ground, which is in the City.

It's a no-no in Nottingham, and you are liable to getting your teeth knocked out

They may need a new keeper as Samba is reluctant to sign a new contract which is surprising, Smithies perhaps ?

Why's that the case though when Sherwood Forest is not in Nottingham? - its in Nottinghamshire.

The name is from the original ground - the Forest Recreational grounds which are a mile or so north of the city centre, nothing to do with Sherwood Forest.

I am aware of their proper name , however , I’ve called them Notts , Nottingham Forest and Forest since 1979, and so have plenty of others I know. The pedants clearly have the hump with this

Even modern day pundits like Jamie Carragher call them Notts Forest

    Re: Notts Forest

A £100m transfer spend equals an equally huge increase in wages - the general assumption must be the higher the transfer fee, the higher the wage demanded. Surviving the 1st season would certainly add at least £100m to the value of the club, but it's a massive gamble.

    Re: Notts Forest

they've got 5 key players on loan last season that will need replacing or re-signing first, that will chew through half of that £100m potentially

    Re: Notts Forest

There's no crime or shame in calling them Notts Forest. But it's Notts County. Nottingham Forest. The abbreviated "Notts" County is the actual name of the club.

    Re: Notts Forest

People generally call them Notts Forest only to wind them up…. Or to provide some variation from the popular and timeless ‘Scabs’!

Nottingham was originally called Snotingham, the nomenclature relating to a chieftain called Snot.
