During Brexit there were wild claims from Prof Patrick Minford, professor of economics at Cardiff Uni about how much better off we were going to be after Brexit. He was one of the few predicting such things. He was also an adviser to the Thatcher government, a right wing economist, another totally opposed to immigration. His Brexit predictions have mainly been utter bollocks, as they were always likely to be if you have a set agenda.
Minford must be 80 now (if he's still alive). His "models" (a very generous term for what he supposedly used to produce his prognostications) were thoroughly debunked by a group at LSE as outdated, biased and erroneous. He is/was a figure of fun among serious members of the Economics community. But, hey ho, the media gave him the oxygen of publicity and poor ordinary folks believed his BS.
