75 was pretty hot, too.
I did my industrial year 75-76, in a "thick" sandwich course, and in the 75 summer I worked in a computer room. Computers in those days were massive beasts, (with about a whole megabyte of store!) and required air con.
When we went for a break we often cut it short so that we could get back out of the heat.

I had flooring and a proper ladder put into my attic to turn it into an office. It was 37 degrees up here on Tuesday. I'm going into the office today.

Can you get an extractor fan installed? It sucks out all the hot air from upstairs and draws cooler air from downstairs.
