It is encouraging and I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing him play and our new midfield.

I am having a little chuckle though because the piece is a 'Glen Williams Football Cliche Fest' ...'covers every blade of grass....'gets in the opposition's faces'....

Still, I'm over the moon for this signing and not sick as parrot!

Sounds like him and Wintle provide the cover for us to play four at the back.

Glen Williams seems to get a lot of stick but those weren't his words they were the answers given by the bloke he asked the questions of??

My bad. You're right, it was the cliched words of Jonathan Low! I skimmed down to the juicy bits and missed that part. I just thought it was one of those pseudo Q&A formats. I hadn't realised he'd actually spoken to a real person based on those answers!

Interview with Ralls now up on the club website.

He's apparently already in the top 20 for Cardiff City appearances - and could be closing in on the top 10 by the end of this contract.

I can't find a date for when Joe joined the Academy from Farnborough - but it was some time in 2010, probably the summer.

Dave Jones was sacked on 30 May 2010.

Joe Ralls made his senior debut in the League Cup against Oxford United on 10 August 2011. So his first team career began with Malky.

DJ left the club after the 2010/2011 season, so probably May 2011

    Sorry - my mistake.

Yes Dave Jones was sacked (aka left the club) on 30 May 2011. So Ralls never in first team under him.

When Joe Ralls signed for City (I think it was during the summer of 2011), he arrived from Farnborough with another lad named Jordan Carter. I might be wrong about this, but I recall the latter was initially the more fancied to make the grade. Apparently a few Premier League sides had been interested in him before he came here.

Carter ended up in non-league football in the Farnborough area and was last sighted playing for Frimley Green in the Combined Counties League. Clubs he's previously played for include Bagshot Lea and Fleet Town.

I can remember Jordan Carter having a very good match for the under 18s against Villa I think it was, but, other than that, he didn’t do a great deal in the matches I saw him play - he seemed to struggle physically.

Here’s a blog piece from October 2010 about one of the first Academy games Joe Ralls played.

Interesting. So it was the summer of 2010, not 2011, when the pair of them arrived.

Here's another of your reports featuring Jordan Carter:

I think that’s probably the game I was referring to above - wrong Brummy team!

This is the game I remember most from 10/11 youth football - a couple of friends who didn’t normally go to age group games came along and I spent the pre game period bigging up Ralls who ended up being subbed at half time.

"Although the majority of play continued to be be towards the Palace goal, the warning bells were ringing whenever they broke forward (often through their tricky Welsh winger Jonathan Williams) and a couple of quick goals either side of half time settled the tie."

Tricky Welsh winger Jonathan Williams - whatever happened to him?

Saw his debut at Oxford in the League Cup and was at Hull when he scored his first goal, which was a cracker.
