Not had a chance to read the articles but arranged for my team to visit Wafer Fab (when I worked on a CI team) and it’s a fantastic place.

Don't be too despondent. There will always be stories in sectors to focus on, but the UK is doing significantly better than over the water in terms of manufacturing at the moment. Germany and the Eurozone in contraction.

We’re on the verge of stopping production in all of our factories because of wafer shortages, Texas Instruments can currently only provide 25% of their demand from China. A well known German car manufacturer, has set up a new vehicle line for 600 per day but can only build 2 per hour because of component shortages. By the end of August we’ll be on complete stop.

The big impact in the PMI is the SDT which has collapsed. Orders & production are there but everyone is carrying too much inventory because it’s being held due to critical shortages. The waiting time on some cars is forecast at 15 months

We had a right old scrap last year about tech supply for 3D graphics and costs had tripled since Brexit. I’m still being skinned for GPUs which were bought in bulk and kept to keep the price high. A GPU for £800 is going for nearly 2 Grand today.
