Pitch invaders at Premier League and English Football League matches will receive an automatic club ban under new measures to tackle fan behaviour.
Damn. That's ruined my plans for Saturday afternoon....
That would have been the end of it for 11-year-old me in 1968.
I have sometimes thought I'd like to meet John Toshack someday. 'Tosh,' I'd say. 'Lovely to see you again after so long.'
'I'm sorry, I don't, uh .. . . .'
'Tosh, I was that kid who ran on to the pitch and patted you on the back after you scored that goal against QPR in '68. Great goal, Tosh! I said, before running back to the Grange End.'
'Oh, yeah. Nice to see you, again.'
(I hear Tosh is a nice guy.)
Remember that League Cup game last season? A few extremely random one man pitch invasions, one actually taking a selfie alongside Colwill while the game carried on around them. Weird!!!!
I imagine this new rule will be conveniently forgotten in such circumstances even though it's the same scenes end of last season that have instigated these decisions.
Unless they think this would put people off.
Can see far more relegation pitch invasions, please ban me, it's an addiction.
Would this count as a pitch invasion? https://mobile.twitter.com/RothmansY...35631762526208
Actually, he doesn't quite make the pitch does he.
I ran onto the pitch at a charity game once. I think it was Corinthian Park, which is now Cae Syr Dafydd.
As a sweaty and aged John Charles left the field I thrust my autograph book under his nose. “ Not now sonny” he breathlessly replied.
John Charles called me “Sonny.” My father was over the moon.
