Hopefully this new striker can make a difference, he's going to have to run his bollocks off though.
During the covid seasons, Morison would quite often do co comms and I donít think he was the biggest fan of Glatzel. I donít think heís physical enough, Iím terms of strength or pace to succeed as a lone striker in the EFL. Maybe that would change when the ball wasnít being pumped in the general direction of his head, though! He knows where the back of the net is, though, which is more than most players in our squad

I almost said this to TLG, word for word when i met up with him a couple of weeks back.

Glatzel likes the ball at his feet, facing the goal. He doesn't do the work. Not the worst thing, but I think that's why it didn't work out here.

I was at the Hamburg derby on Friday and he was very average. 3-0 St. Pauli.

I never thought of him as a player who didn’t work though.

I’d have him here right now and start him.

Glatzel scored again on the weekend, that's 19 in Bundesliga2 this season, the division's second-highest scorer. He's now got 62 goals in 103 games for HSV.

I liked him, thought he was skilful but I doubt he would fit in to this team.

Cardiff are amazing at accumulating lots of players in the right /wrong position and then playing them in the very wrong position. We are very good at it because we don't know what players we need or what to buy

Correct, and it's been like that for many years. I can remember watching Leo Fortune-West playing on the wing.

He didn't come across as being particularly skilful to me. Neither did he have a turn of pace, or show great strength.
I get that the way we set up meant that any forward would have found it difficult to succeed. Nevertheless, I'm genuinely surprised by his stats in the German second tier.

    Good luck to him.

That has to be up there with one of the weirdest things ever.

he's just one of a long line of strikers who we try to play as a target man because of their height, whether or not that is their natural game.
