I always think Pat Nevin speaks well, and gives some good insights.
If you watch the golf coverage on Sky the commentary team are on a different level to pretty much anyone in football. In the NFL Tony Romo is outstanding, highlights things you wouldn’t necessarily notice in a way that’s easy to understand.

Most of the people who do stuff for the Athletic have a good knowledge of football.

BBC ex-pros just seem a little bit boring and obvious for my liking. They seem more like TV personalities on the gravy train than people who can say insightful things about football.
