Ahhhh - hindsight the weakest form of wisdom
The government's reaction to Covid is a classic case of "Damned if you do, damned if you don't", and like someone else said, it's easy to be wise after the event. They did what they thought was right at the time, and they made some mistakes, but they also got some stuff right. An awful lot of money was wasted, but what if things had got really bad? Then they'd have been heroes, ready and prepared for the worst case scenario.
One other problem with Covid is that we are going to be paying for it for years, just at a time when we can't afford to.
I don't really criticise any of them that much, because these were very difficult decisions.
But Drakeford had numerous advantages (didnt have to worry about the wider economic impact as much or make decisions on furlough, less densely populated communities etc etc)
Yet..
What did Drakeford do that was demonstrably different?
What end result was demonstrably different?
F*ck all of them. None of them live in my world anyway. It could be argued that not many do!
Perhaps the so called conspiracy theorists shouldn't have been silenced so quickly.
There speaks a man who’s trying anything to become Prime Minister. I for one am pleased that there was a tendency to err on the side of caution at a time when so little was known about Covid.
Wales isn’t less densely populated than England. If you take the base number of “population density” then sure, we’re less dense than England. But with a bit of common sense we aren’t. We’re 50 times denser than Australia but anyone that’s been to Sydney or Melbourne will know they make Cardiff look like a village.
Our people are much more consolidated than in England. Half our population are based within 50 miles of eachother in South Wales with a 1/3rd in only 3 major urban areas. The middle of Wales is basically empty. A large scale Covid outbreak in Cardiff or Swansea has much more of an impact than the same scale out break in Leicester, Reading, Bristol, Brighton, Plymouth, etc.
He just tried to be stupid and delay everything, damage tourism, damage the economy and made petty stupid rules like you can't drive five miles for the sake of it!
He proved if Labour was in full power, we would have locked down much harder for much longer and we would have been in a far worse position than we are now.
[QUOTE=Citizen's Nephew;5336838]Why is the f*cking thread on the football section?[/QUOTE
He did say sorry for the wrong posting
