Wolves v Man City stopped at 70 minutes for everyone to clap, ffs. Fake, virtue signalling bollox.
My point was that they appear to be doing it with their flags that can be seen by Canadians across the River Niagara. AZ has helpfully confirmed that there is no flag lowering in his state. So it seems to be less a general sign of respect than a message to their neighbours.
You also say they do it ‘in some cases’. I suppose that is just you guessing? Have they ever done it before? I doubt they were lowering the Stars and Stripes in the border states last time a former Mexican head of state died. Or did they?
There is no doubt the queen was Premier League when it came to heads of state - for longevity and the number of independent state that still had her as head - but it still seems an odd decision by the USA officials to me.
Came from a Proclamation from Joe Biden last week:
"As a mark of respect for the memory of Queen Elizabeth II, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment."

Am not sure AZ said that but, the flags are also at half mast on the old Arizona state capitol and it seems state wide

I don't know how common it is, but it was done for Mandela also.

I'll repeat for Tory boy cloth ears - nobody is even vaguely bothered about Elizabeth Windsor's death in the US.
Shouldn't you be in the 14 mile queue rather than continually posting sycophantic BS on here?
Simple question - are you even vaguely aware of the historical terror, suppression and latterly condescension the institution of the English monarchy has applied to Wales?
AZ, you don't even seem to be able to accurately report on contemporary Arizona, without 20 seconds on google proving you wrong, so I don't think I'll take your word on (takes a deep breath) the historical terror, suppression and latterly condescension the institution of the English monarchy has applied to Wales that seriously.
Congratulations on not using the word fascist for once though. You are getting better.
The super cross thread is here btw

Enjoy your saturday afternoon old bean. I won't be joining any queues, because I have better things to do, but if people want to do that, good for them. Remember, we all spend good money to watch millionnaires kick balls around, so are in no position to lecture.

Here you go. Maybe plug some gaps in your palpable ignorance.
Video isn't available AZ. Maybe the fact checkers got onto it?
Talking of facts, so far in this thread, you have:
1 / suggested that moving it from the main board to here is a form of censorship
The reality of course is that this isn't the case.
2 / claimed that "nobody is even vaguely bothered about Elizabeth Windsor's death in the US."
In reality, it seems 82% of Americans had an opinion of the Queen, 68% of them positive
https://today.yougov.com/topics/ente...r-america-poll
It also seems 23m of your countrymen got up to watch Wills and Kate marry in 2011. Only 50% more than watched that years World Series in that deeply unpopular sport of Baseball.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_World_Series
29m Americans watched Hazza and Meghans wedding in 2018. That's double that years World Series.

Now I couldn't care less what anyone thinks, and I understand given Americas history why they would find the idea of a royal family preposterous (as many of us do) but that doesn't mean no one is interested, nor that most people can't just honour someones life in a respectful manner. It seems many Americans can do that. Maybe they just don't speak to you about it, for fear of verbals?
More generally, it seems that what you say may not be that reliable tbh. You say no one is interested, yet it seems that many actually are.
Just like the fact you are unable to distinguish between servicing debt and paying it off, you're once again determinedly displaying either your innate thickness or the fact you want to mislead.
The issue at hand is whether Arizonans are bothered about Elizabeth Windsor's death. Remember, I was responding to Jon's post about north NY and relayed information about Arizona.
It's not about whether people watched soap opera weddings on TV or whether Americans had a positive feeling about Elizabeth Windsor.
Just for fun, here's where your irrelevant logic leads us: I'd wager more Americans went to see The Batman at the movies ($390M+ domestic revenue) than will watch the funeral. So on your chosen metric to gauge esteem (viewing figures), Batman ranks higher.
The NPR website (equivalent of BBC here) has one story in 21 on its current front page about Elizabeth Windsor. And it's the one about a lot of ex-colonies not having a favorable view of the English monarchy because of the appalling behavior of imperial Britain that the English monarchy embodies. (You know - it's the same issue, substantively, as the one you previously claimed you were unaware of in regard to the suppression of Wales and its culture.)
You also very selectively picked statistics from the YouGov poll. Funny how you didn't mention only 34% of Americans have a positive attitude towards Charles Windsor.
I get it. Liz was an old lady who appeared to be harmless. A small bunch of soap opera lovers are a bit sad their favorite character has left the show. Are they tearing up in the streets of Mesa, Tempe and Flagstaff with outpourings of public grief? Are they ****. Get a grip Tory boy.
Are they tearing up in the streets of Mesa, Tempe and Flagstaff with outpourings of public grief? No one said they are. Why are you talking about debt and batman? Classic strawman argument littered with the usual insults, which are hallmarks of a man who has been caught out tbh.
What was said (by you) was: "nobody is even vaguely bothered about Elizabeth Windsor's death in the US." Now clearly, that just isn't true is it. So you were either lying on purpose or just wrong. Americas relationship with Britain and with the royal family is quite fascinating. I've lived briefly in the US and found it so. There's an interesting discussions to be had on it, but those discussions are more interesting if people tell the truth about it instead of making things up
It's saturday. Go have a beer, or (as you said to me a short while back) go take a break.
The people who have joined those lines are completely demented . Most of the tears on show are fake . Thank feck it should hopefully be another 15 years at least till we have this idiotic clown show on our TV screens again . I don't wish good luck and say well done to these idiots I say get down the doctors you lemmings .
Uh, YOU (not me) started the fallacious line of argument about royal wedding viewing figures being indicators of Arizonans caring about Elizabeth Windsor's death. I just pointed out how absurd that irrelevant line was.
One more thing. I don't believe I've ever called you or anyone else on here a "fascist". Maybe you can point to a post where I did? I could be mistaken though - I'll admit I am nowhere near the devotee you are, posting on practically every thread continually (11k+ posts, I mean wow). Otherwise, withdraw the comment.
So I'm curious as to what people think.
When the next visiting team sings "god save the queen/king", will the crowd boo or join in? Will they answer with "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau"?
I have no idea.
Why isn’t the gawp queue called the QE2?
Is it true that ‘the queue’ now has it’s own weather forecast?
When does the madness stop?
Good idea. But maybe go a bit further? Much further? They could organise a national (even international so the American monarchists don’t feel left out) coffin tour. Sell tour T shirts. Take the X Queen to the people and max out the tourist dollars? It would all have to be done very respectfully of course. This calls for a petition.
I am picnicking in the Quantocks tomorrow, old fruit. Last Thurdsay I had a surfing lesson in Devon (which I wasn't very good at and, embarrassingly, putting the wet suit back to front as a starter ) and walked three consecutive days thereafter (including today) along the SW Coast Path in Cornwall and in stunning weather and out of earshot of the media. Reached the halfway mark yesterday and a good time was had by all in my wee group.
Another 30 hours off the grid and Bob's your uncle.
Somerset isn't far from Cornwall..
