    Re: Musk buying Twitter (again)

    Not really a fan of twitter, although it is useful for keeping up with instant news and gossip.

    I think he has a point on some free speech issues. What I think is more key is the issue of algorithms. I notice this more on facebook, where posts just aren't displayed in any order and groups 'that you may be interested in' get pushed upon you.

    We saw that most tragically with poor old Molly Russell. I think you multiply this by hundreds of millions of people and you can see how sites like twitter definitely contribute to division by steering people towards opinions and groups they are aligned to, so there is less diversity of opinion all round. If Musk can address some of that, it'll be a good thing

    Elon Musk: Russia and Ukraine must agree to a peace agreement to stop the war

    Russia: "Agree"

    Ukraine: We don't agree, we want more US / UK taxpayer money.

    When analyzing the Twitter/Elon situation, you cannot look at it from a purely business/monetary perspective. Nothing will make sense.

    This is not a random billionaire buying another company for fun. This is the US MIL’s highest paid contractor stripping the Deep State of one of their most powerful brainwashing weapons in The Information War.

    It’s never been about money. It’s an operation to expose and neutralize a psychological weapon.

    The state of things:
    1. Elon to Twitter: "I bought stock in Twitter."
    2. {Yawn, both eyes closed}
    3. "I bought a lot."
    4. {one eye opens}
    5. "I bought enough to be a board member"
    6. (Twitter, alarmed) "You can't!"
    7. Elon: "I want to buy the whole company"
    8. Twitter: "you CAN'T!!!"
    9. Elon: here's my bid
    10. Twitter: We hate it
    11. Twitter shareholders: We like it
    12. Twitter: OK fine
    13. Elon: Too many bots. I'm out.
    14. Twitter: You can't not buy us!
    15. Elon: sue me
    16. Twitter: OK
    17. Twitter: you MUST buy us
    18. Elon: No
    19. Twitter: We insist
    20. Elon: OK
    21. Twitter: "You can't buy us!"

    It appears that Twitter may have been colluding with the White House to silence opposition voices on their platform, thereby denying them their First Amendment right of free speech. I wonder if any other social media companies have been playing the same game?

    What has come out is only the tip of the iceberg. I'm not sure about Musk, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt until his actions prove otherwise.

    The First Amendment bars the government from deciding for us what is true or false, online or anywhere.

    Our government can’t use private pressure to get around our constitutional rights.

    He spent years crying about 'free speech'. Now he's banning anyone who impersonates him.

    He's a massive hypocrite.

    A wrong move by Musk, but I've always thought he's up to something.

    Not really, things are either true, false, or indeterminate, and Musk resides in the latter category for me. Don't confuse questioning something with believing something.
