Between 1880 to 1920, British colonial policies in India claimed more lives than all famines in the Soviet Union, Maoist China and North Korea combined.

Yes a lot of countries have blood on their hands including the Indians since 1920 ,whose human rights abuses are known to us in 2022 .
Folk bang about evil Britain , yes you cant forgive the past atrocities , however so many countries around the world strive for dominance in the name of wealth ( which we all sadly enjoy ) at least we have learned and better ourselves .
Incredibly we are now in 2022 (not 1890 ) and the suppression , control , death , persecutions , still goes on in so many countries including left and right wing junta's .
Slavery now is higher now than it ever was , not much said though as its mostly black on black .
Are there more slaves today than in the 1700s?
Experts have calculated that roughly 13 million people were captured and sold as slaves between the 15th and 19th centuries; today, an estimated 40.3 million people – more than three times the figure during the transatlantic slave trade – are living in some form of modern slavery, according to the latest figures .

Just to pick up on one point - the figures for African people captured, enslaved and taken across the Atlantic through 'the Trade' (source of much of Britain's wealth during the Industrial Revolution) does not account for the tens of millions subsequently born into slavery in the Americas. No one should downplay the scale and horror of that period - or the system that it supported. The British government borrowed the money to compensate slave owners when abolition came in (the slaves were not compensated!) - including David Cameron's ancestors - and only finished paying off the debt in 2015.
