When you factor in the point that I've turned my heating and radiators way down, and cut costs where I can, I would say I'm now paying triple what I normally would, if not more.

That just don't seem right to me.

Energy bills are at record highs - and now experts say these might not go back to normal until the end of the decade.

That's £135 a month MORE than I was paying last year!

But it’s not going to be £180 a month for 12 months. 3 months tops. It should be less in spring and much much less summer. balance out a bit on the summer months. Prob end up paying £100-120 a month over 12 months which unfortunately is the cost these days as rates have nearly trebled in the last 15 months.

What you say sounds logical, it makes sense to have them high when it's freezing to get the temperature in the house up and lower when this really cold spell ends on Saturday night.

Just checked my standing charge for my gas and electric meters. Both are with British Gas.
    Electric 54.2p a day.
    Gas 37.5 a day.
£335 a year just on standing charges. Is this the norm?

I have a small 2 bed house, this is utterly insane.

Anybody got any tips on what to chec like boiler settings or something?

    Surely this can't be right?

    With SSE by the way....
I think everyone is paying around twice what they were paying last year?

Gas standard tariff has gone up 141% since last October so thats more than double, and if you were locked into a good deal previously and now out of a deal it would have more than likely than trebled. Quadrupled if people had an excellent deal before October 2021 and that deal has run out.

Our gas bill went from £70 per month to £310 per month in September
    Average 3-bed semi-house.

    Re: Gas prices

Everyone I know/ speak to is struggling/worried with these energy prices. Many are substantially reducing usage/ wearing coats etc in the house, living in 1 room.
Not sure it's meant to be like this in 2022. People will die.
I dont understand how there haven't been riots.
