It is still a game of football.
And to look after the players careers they know how to manage them now.

Just read the post on the other site about Hudson on sending Ollie Tanner out on loan:-
""When we brought Ollie in we had a long-term plan for him. It's not just six months or a year, it's longer than that," Hudson said.
"We knew he had been out of regular first-team football for a long time, which is the continual day-to-day. We have got him to be able to train and play; so train, then play 90 minutes, train, then play 90.
“We need to get Ollie match fit and hopefully next season we can put him in the first team squad.
"The early part of the season, it was 60 minutes and then he couldn't train. We were starting to build him up, body-wise. He had an impact in the Aston Villa game, it was a great goal, he has got quality, no doubt.
Now, I accept that the game may have moved on a bit in the last few decades but I can't help thinking that these coaches/trainers/managers/performance experts are overthinking things. The Emperor's Clothes springs to mind, it ain't rocket science, it's still a game of footy.

Is speaking fluent bollocks part of the coaching badges now?
Egg sucking grannies everywhere it seems. Most of our all time favourite city players wouldn't last more that 10mins at today's fitness levels. It seems to me that the older fans amongst us don't appreciate the fitness levels required in todays game.
So Keenor, Ferguson, Blair, Ford, Malloy, Hitchens, Harrington, Gibson, Allchurch, Toshack, Clark, King etc wouldn’t survive 10 minutes in this era with today’s training regimes? For their time they were fit as fiddles playing on energy sapping mudheaps kicking a wet cannonball. Of course they’d survive on the bowling greens of today, skill wise certainly, what they produced on those pitches was, looking back, quite amazing. And they’d be as fit as fiddles today and cope comfortably.
According to this they would need to run three times further. Perhaps attaining and maintaining the levels of fitness to achieve those distances compared with the 70s may be relevant.

Judging by the evidence of the season so far, a number of the current squad don't appreciate the fitness levels required in today's game as they're either missing on a regular basis or ineffective when they do play.
Ollie Tanner signed for Cardiff City on 18/05/2022, five days after his 20th birthday. It's now late-December. So, we're saying that a 20 year-old who has been on the books for seven months isn't yet fit enough to play for the team who are 20th in the Championship due to the fitness levels required in today's game?
That is, of course, nonsense. The truth is Tanner's not currently considered good enough to play for the team who are 20th in the Championship, so he's being farmed out on loan to the lower divisions, as countless young players have been before him.
However, if people believe he genuinely isn't fit enough to play for the side yet, what does that say about the coaching set-up at City?
Yes. It's called diplomacy.
What do you expect him to say? "He's not good enough, we're hoping he improves"? How's that for player development?
Also, it's not the manager's fault that he has to give press conferences every time we play. And it's not his fault he gets asked these sort of questions.
he looked decent against Villa, wanted the ball, was always making runs
I was looking forward to seeing him play a few games
