I see some blogs are linking David Sullivan again, who’ll sell his West Ham shares during the first half of 2023
I fear we're seeing their best already
It's quite telling that O'Dowda, nothing more than an average Championship player for much of his career, is seen as one of our best players. The summer was a shambles that has left us turning to the likes of Tom Sang, Gavin Whyte & Mark Harris on a regular basis, how many other Championship sides would take those 3?
Baffling isn't it? Seeing loads of stuff on Twitter having a go at Hudson for not getting the most of the team as if they're all world beaters when many are clearly just not good enough for the level. Hudson's not doing particularly well but there's only so much you can do when the team just isn't up to it
How many genuinely good Championship players do we have? Not players who can do a job, but players who are consistently good at this level? I'd say it's less than 11 and changing the manager won't solve that
The task for rebuilding the squad hot on the heels of throwing any kid who showed any promise into the first team squad was handed to the least experienced manager we have had at the club under Tan.
So we have the least experienced manager with the least money and arguably a fairly weak squad to start with tasked with producing a competitive team. It can't be a surprise to anybody.
Just take Cardiff City out the equation and suggest any club is doing that this season and this coming summer. Did the people in charge think we would fly up the table?
When the club needed stability they thought they would deliver that with a manager with next to no experience and give him next to nothing to build a squad.
We compounded this with the Hudson appointment.
We need stability and an experienced head to take us forward because, being polite, it does not come from above them.
It is absolutely crazy. You get people on twitter who think he's the best manager since sliced bread. His signings are garbage. Rino is one of his better ones, and he wouldn't get in many Champ sides. Any idiot could have signed Robinson. O'Dowda is a great signing, as was Collins and Romeo. Even regulars like Allsop, is he a good player at this level? Probably average. Morison and co threw shit at the wall and hope some of it stuck. There is nothing to get excited about in this squad. Sawyers, Nkounkou, Ojo and Simpson are truly dreadful signings. Daley-Campbell is behind Sang. Rino is behind Ralls. Etete is a major project.
Steve Morison had 45 games in charge. He won 16, drew 8 and lost 21. That's basically a full season, and he got 56 points. That's just enough to stay up, and it is a pitiful 1.24 points per game. This season it was 1.1 points per game. Hudson now has 1.06 points per game. Both are dreadful managers but if we go down, and it is looking more and more likely, the blame firmly lies with Morison.
We are going down in the next 2 seasons. It is basically an inevitability unless someone from the youth team comes from nowhere. Next season we'll probably have Ipswich and Wednesday replacing garbage like Wigan and Rotherham. It's going to be a miracle if we survive with this squad, and that's assuming nobody good leaves.
