What's good these days?
There's talk of a family meal coming up but I've not been out for a curry in the last few years!
Can anyone advise as to which places are good these days?
Bit too fancy that one, looking for the best old school balti type that does a good vindaloo. I'm a sucker for toilet roll in the fridge jobs
Wait for Sludge to reply. He knows the best curry from Bradford to Baghdad.
Nobody else need reply.
purple poppadom is the best
Why limit yourself to Canton?
The juboraj in Rhiwbina is decent for a family meal.
Best curry house in Cardiff in my humble opinion , is in Llandaff North , very different from yer bulk standard curry's
Janata Palace, always been by far the best for me.
Is The Eurasian still there?
I am here you sexy sweet assed old fruit
I can only offer my knowledge of curry houses in places I have lived
Some of us move around in life and experience different places and people
Some people , stuck in the valleys , get a nose bleed if they go into cardiff for the day
The Purple Poppadom is fantastic but is essentially Indian fine dining. Given the choice of the others in and around Cowbridge Road I would probably pick The Star of Wales. They've always being consistent and have a great menu that doesn't just serve traditional British Indian restaurant dishes. The Star also serve their baltis in a balti dish, or at least they used to. That is something of a dying art. However I've never found a restaurant in Cardiff that captures the taste of balti quite like it is in Birmingham. The Indo Cymru has always been tasty if not adventurous with their menu and would be my next choice.
I had a takeaway from the Eurasian before and was probably the worst curry I’ve ever had, I assumed it closed down after all the hygiene issues.
Compared to other places i have worked, London, Leicester, Leeds, Glasgow, Sheffield, Brum, Manchester etc. In my opinion, Cardiff is pretty average. There's the odd exception, The Panama on Whitchurch rd is consistently good, and there's a new place on Caerphilly rd (Tikka Flame) that's alright, great Biryani.
I have eaten curry in brum , Manchester, London and Bradford and Leeds and apart from the speciality dishes......baltis in Birmingham I think cardiff is OK
You said some time back that cardiff has too many places with the reformed lumps of chicken but you get that everywhere
