you've missed the point made by a country mile.

I've made it in bold for you, so its a little easier for you to digest.

The cornerstone of our legal system is its better to let 10 guilty men go free than punish one innocent man

That's because they are abusing the asylum system.

If you want to talk about immigration, the dastardly Tories took that to record levels last year.

They also changed the law so that those from an overwhelmingly white part of the world (EU) are not prioritised over those from an overwhelmingly non-white part (the rest of the world).

Accusations of racism and Nazi like behaviour is preposterous and doesn't stack up, and you know it!

The policy is the antithesis of what our legal system stands for. Lets just dispense with innocent until proven guilty and assume everyone is guilty by default.

You can only begin to imagine how shocked I am to find our you're an advocate of this.

Can we try to focus on what we were discussing for a moment without adding layers of goalpost moving?

If this government are going to refer to asylum seekers as "illegal migrants" then *they* have conflated immigration & asylum - not me.

    Agree or disagree?

Calling you out for saying something ridiculous and untrue is not the same as thinking the government can do no wrong.

Just like if you posted that this morning it is minus 5000 Celsius and the snow is 50ft deep, and someone said it wasnt, it doesn't mean they are arguing it is in fact 50 Celsius and baking hot outside.

Disagree. The point being that economic migrants are abusing the asylum system.

You can argue whether that's true or not but it's not mixing the issues, it's more a case of reaffirming that the two issues shouldn't be mixed.

the lowest possible temperate is 0K, with is -273.15C. I have more chance in believing it is indeed -5000C than believing this government or its acolytes have any kind of compassion for their fellow man.

fine, but what about the ones that are not? Should we just throw them in the dustbin?

I'm not sure how you can type with a straight face that referring to asylum seekers as "illegal migrants" is not mixing the issues but here we are.

I can see that we're not going to agree on this no matter how much back and forth we have.

I almost posted something similar but I felt that it was a waste of time.

    Good luck.

I'm not someone who mentions skin colour regarding such matters so I take it that your reply is not aimed at me personally.

People who are right wing and you are right wing Mr Wales ....love suggesting that the nazis ......were in fact socialists ......and you do that because way back then these twats were appealing to nationalism and called themselves national socialists

It's an attempt to label socialism as fascism when they were fascists

'Nazi' is the original nickname for National Socialist Party (NAtionalsoZIalist). That obviously doesn't mean that all socialists are Nazis, very very far from it, but it seems a curious thing for you to object to. It's pretty common to refer to them as Nazis or National Socialists. 🤷

And I suggest you don't look up what the USSR stands for..!

...Which is a fair response into the RT Honourable Sludges post of 11.59. 👍

If it upsets people, we could all refer to them as the Na party I suppose?

Better still, we could stop talking about them entirely given their utter irrelevance to the topic in hand, or in fact 99.9% of any contemporary political debates.

Calling them Nazis is just fine, thanks.

Pretending that they had any connection with socialism when they were a far-right, fascist party is a bold move though and should be applauded if only for it's absurdity.

They have zero connection to mainstream western European socialism as we've known it for the last 100 plus years. No one said or implied otherwise.

It's very routine to refer to them as Nazis or the National Socialist Party. Less so NSDAP.

Indeed, given that the word 'Nazi' has in time evolved to mean more than just references to that party, sometimes, when a specific reference is made to them, it can be useful to stress it is the National Socialist Party or NSDAP we are talking about and not just using a word that has been more generally thrown about for decades.

Again, best still is for people to not casually make comparisons between contemporary Britain and the most horrific mass murderers in history.

And of course, one of the first groups rounded up and sent to concentration camps were the socialists.

James knows this and it's so unlike him to be disingenuous

A damning comparison between the current government and a certain German party in the 1930s.

The most ridiculous thing that has happened to me today is a few people on CCMB getting upset that the Nazi party was referred to as the National Socialist party, which is their name.

The second most ridiculous thing that has happened to me was reading that Twitter post genuinely comparing the UK to Nazi Germany.

Just a reminder; the Nazi Party hounded down and murdered six million Jews and other people for the crime of being what they are. Jews and others fled FROM Nazi Germany

The UK is the country that people entering boats are trying to come TO.

The difference is stark and obvious and whatever varying opinions we may have in how to solve the issue, I genuinely think it is disrespectful to the victims of Nazi Germany to compare the two and people (including ex footballers) should think a bit more before making such comparisons.

the fact the comparison is being made tells you what you need to know regarding the perception of this governments policy towards migrants.

Watch "the Swimmers". Its an excellent film.
