On that basis why would anyone buy a season ticket ? If you fork out £250-400 and then discover half the crowd got in for nothing, it wouldn't be very pleasing to say the least. The club would go bust pretty quickly as well. Very few Championship clubs can afford to lose £3-4m revenue.
I expect that Fortuna would have already thought about that.
They are just going to trial it for 3 games, where admission is free.
Season ticket holders would get proportionate discounts.
Let's imagine that season tickets were available at half-price if half the games were free. Season ticket holders would keep their seats. Would that work?
The lost revenue from admission could in part be solved by extra match-day sales of merchandise, food & drink, programs etc

It's odd that they haven't managed to establish themselves as a permanent fixture in the top division in recent years. Wealthy large city with a great stadium and fanbase screaming out for success. They were there in the 70s and 80s but since then have been yo-yoing around. They even spent some time in the 3rd and 4th tiers in the early 2000s.
I'm all for that, just curious how it works.
I see there stadium has 28,000 people on average but can hold 54,000.
My guess is they'll sell much more food, drinks and merchandise with a packed out stadium which will help reduce the shortfall.

I prefer City’s business model personally. It’s working wonders.
It would make more sense to me if they simply sold the tickets much cheaper. If they are free some people may take up the offer simply to attend once or twice and leave an empty seat for most games.
I think the a average season ticket in the German League is really cheap anyway

Yes, I agree. Cheaper tickets but not free sounds great. I would love to see more regulation on this. The precedent is there with away ticket caps at £30. There is no reason why clubs shouldn't be made to offer 5000 home tickets at £20 or something.
And you shouldn't have to have a smart phone or have to pay with card either. There's lots of little things clubs do that exclude people
Don't they have ticket touts in Germany? This would be brilliant for them.
