Lovely to see an old fashioned batting display from Khawaja .....justice for the obscenities from England when he got out 1st innings.
    It's Australia's to lose now....

Looks that way but a wicket can change the whole complexion of the game.

I still remember the 1981 ashes (Botham and Willis) like it was yesterday.

England were 500/1 at one stage.

This is proper test match batting...not like the pseudo one day stuff England try to play.

    Re: Official Ashes Thread

England need a wicket soon. Not sure where it is going to come from. There's no movement or swing. The spinners aren't doing much. The two batsmen are mainly making sure they don't get out and England can't encourage them to play shots to force a mistake. For all the positivity of Bazball, Australia's slow and steady, Geoff Boycott like approach is winning the day comfortably. It's also keeping the crowd quiet.

The new ball is roughly 2 hours away. England need probably 3 wickets by then to have a chance. I think there's more chance of Wales winning the 2026 World Cup.

Robinson is becoming a very good bowler. Pity we haven't got Woods to call upon now as he has real pace.

    Re: Official Ashes Thread

Why have Ollie Pope nor Stokes bowled yet?

Can either team claim an extra half hour if they fell they can win it?

    Re: Official Ashes Thread

An over ago I thought Aussies had given up on trying to win it but wowza!

I do think they are just trying to not get pinned down but they are playing a dangerous game.

They're making up for lost time anyway, so there's plenty of time left. At least 19 overs (62 to win)

    Re: Official Ashes Thread

All three results still possible and it does now look like the Aussies are going for it.

What a finish to a test!

If England don't win it from here, there are going to be questions about that declaration.
