Shall we have a rubbish quiz on a bank holiday evening?

Aye, go on then. Most of them are looking at the last 20 years since we won promotion in the playoffs and involves league games only.

    1. Now that Reading have been relegated, which Championship side has been in the division, consecutively, the longest?

    2. Since promotion in 2003, next season we will be 1 of only 19 clubs to have spend the last 20 seasons in the top 2 divisions. Which 5 other Championship sides next season will be able to boast this?

    3. Which two clubs are former Premier League sides but have not been seen in the top two divisions for 20 years?

    4. Which two sides have spent more seasons in the Championship in the last 20 years than any other?

    5. Which side has spent more seasons in League 1 in the last 20 years than any other?

    6. Which side has spent more seasons in League 2 in the last 20 years than any other?

    7. Excluding teams in next season's Premier League, which side has won more games and scored more goals than any other?

    8. Over the last 20 years, between Cardiff and Swansea, which team has scored more goals and which has conceded more goals? (There could be different answers)

    9. Which team has conceded a whopping 1402 goals in the last 20 years, 140 more than Barnsley who have the second worst defensive record across all the league teams?

    10. Out of 904 league games, how many do you think Cardiff City have won? (Only 15 teams have won more games in the last 20 years than us)

    3. Swindon, yes, but Barnsley have had 13 seasons in the Championship.

    4. Us, yes, but not Preston. They had 4 seasons in League 1.

    6. You'd think so, but they had 9 seasons in League 1.

Indeed. When you think of their achievements in the late 80s and early 90s, sad to see them where they are.

Oldham and Tranmere always seemed to be on the verge of greatness back then.
Anyway, for 6, instead of Rochdale how about Mansfield. They seem to have been around ages without actually doing anything.

Yes. 15 seasons in the bottom tier. Northampton are the only side to have been a league side for 20 seasons and spent 14 seasons there.

    9. Peterborough? (they may be the answer to question 5 as well.

48 hours later, I hadn't noticed any replies, so apologies.

    Correct answers so far:

    1. Birmingham City (next season will be their 13th consecutive)
    2. Yes to both TOBW and PdlR
    3. Oldham and Swindon
    4. PdlR is right - us and Derby, meaning next season we'll have spent more seasons in the Championship than any club since we won promotion to it in 2003.
    5. Longest serving side in League 1 - nobody has that yet.
    6. Mansfield
    7. Outside of the top flight, team that has won most often and scored most goals - clue: they've been a bit of a yo-yo side that have never been in the top division
    8. Cardiff scored the most (1175), conceded the most as well (1123).
    9. Worst defence - not Peterborough, though they are 4th worst.
    10. I'll give that to PdlR - 346 wins. 350ish a pretty impressive guess!

Be honest, you'd counted them by hand and had forgotten 4 last minute equalisers we'd conceded!

    Question 2 is great fact!
Reading that even gave me a rare moment of pride in our club.

I’ll try Plymouth for number five, Peterborough for number seven and Rochdale for number nine.

Oxford for five? I'm determined to get number nine - they've got to be perennial strugglers or maybe they-re someone like Southend or Scunthorpe?

I'll give you 5 then, Oldham and MK Dons. Clue for 9 - we've hit them for 6 and it's not Bristol City

Yes, they had good teams for a fair portion of the last twenty years.

In the last 20 years they've won 2 promotions and managed an additional 3 top half finishes. They've also been relegated 4 times and finished in the bottom half on a further 11 occasions. They've conceded 1,402 goals and lost 399 games, more than any other team in the league. Their number of wins is ranked 11th from bottom for all teams who have completed all 20 seasons in the league. Villa and Birmingham have the least number of wins in that context.

It might be good to know that all league teams that have completed the last 20 seasons in the league, bar 7 in the PL, have experienced promotion and relegation at some point. Any idea which side has gone up and come down the most?
