    That is real progress.

I wonder how much of a financial commitment it is from the club? I doubt the sponsors on listed under the club report are making much of a contribution.

Part time salaries for the whole Womens' first team squad may not be that much, but it puts Cardiff in a different position from most other sides in Wales. Wrexham gave part-time contracts to 10 of their Womens' team on Monday - but I think that is it for the Welsh league.

Are Cardiff City Ladies (semi) professional. If not the change announced today might make the Women a more attractive proposition than the Ladies - even with where the two sides play.

An interesting development, should help bring about an improvement in European competition for City and should give the players a better chance of a lucrative move to a bigger club.

Honestly didn’t know there were two different ladies/women teams, that’s blown my mind!

Cardiff City Ladies were attached to Cardiff City FC from 2001 to 2003 but went their own way 20 years ago. They play in the English League pyramid (3rd tier - Southern Premier after promotion at the end of last season).

Cardiff City Women are part of Cardiff City FC. They play in the Welsh league system (Adran Premier). Current league champions, FAW Women's Cup holders and playing in the Women's Champions League next season

Interesting considering that CCFC owns the 'Cardiff City' trade mark and extensions thereof.

    Wow that's brilliant, thank you!

Very interesting to see a Cardiff City team that has nothing to do with us outside the name.

And I just read Jess Fishlock came through there?! Will the next Fishlock come through Ladies or Women you think? Who wins in a match?

I'll be following that Champion's League run for sure. I'm guessing that will be a truer test for the Women than the league was last season.

If I had time machine (or an edit button) I would change that "and" to "AND".

The title of this thread could be referring to some girls doing three days a week outside the Custom House.

They've also been drawn against Lithuanian champions FC Gintra in Champions League qualifying, with the winner playing the winner of Glasgow City and Shelbourne.

Great news and good luck to the girls out in Lithuania.

I suspect it will be some seasons before they are able to compete at Eurpean level though. Hopefully will eventually have better luck than the current men's Welsh league teams have.

Wonder where this leaves the longer established Cardiff womens team though?

Personally I am not remotely interested in women’s football and would rather not see it featured on this board.

I’m disappointed that Phoebe Poole has left the club. She is a great prospect. Not sure what her next move is either?

In other news, can’t the team just be called Cardiff City? Let the other team sort themselves out.

I very much doubt City123's reply was to do with anything in particular you have posted.

Perhaps it would be easier if you make a list of other topics you aren't remotely interested in so that the rest of us can refrain from posting.

Re: CCFC women going semi pro

Lily Bellingham has followed Phoebe Poole to Cheltenham Ladies (3rd tier of the English women's football pyramid).

They both seem to regard the move as a major step up from the top of the 1st tier of the Welsh women's pyramid (squat pyramid!)

Four new players recently signed, but a bit of a re-build going on (again) with the women's team, and a lot of goals to replace:
