Thread: Tour de France

  1. #1

    Tour de France

Good race so far. Looked over after yesterday but Pogacar pretty much played rope-a-dope with Vingegaard and Jumbo-Visma today so it's game on again. Cav's in with a chance of the record Tour stage wins again tomorrow. No G to lead him out but he's been competitive so far and only needs to get lucky once in the next couple of weeks.

Looks like it's going to be another great battle between the two of them.

Hopefully, yes. No one's quite sure how 'match fit' Pogacar is after his injury but he was very impressive today and it's all set up for a great race, as you say.

It’s a visual spectacle. But FFS the commentators talk some shite.

Eurosport have got a couple of commentators I wouldn't fancy getting stuck in a lift with but ITV's coverage is excellent I think. To be fair, the stages go on for hours and there's not a lot happening for much of them so it can't be easy.

I only have the ITV coverage to go on and I think it's pretty good. David Millar is excellent. I used to love Phil Ligget and the late Paul Sherwen, they were a great double act

Really is, it was fantastic today. The step up in class from those two to the rest is remarkable.

Love WVA too, what a machine.

Ive just got back from Spain/France watched the first 3 stages live. It's a brilliant experience.

He really should be a team leader so he can have a crack at winning it.

He's not built to win it. He's by far the best all rounder but the high mountains are not his thing

I'm not sure. He's usually tasked with helping Vingegaard in the mountains. Would be interesting to see how he got on with a team helping him.

He's said he doesn't want to, as he'd have to lose too much weight and then he'd be less explosive.

He definitely could give it a crack though.

I really like ITV's coverage. Ned Boulting knows his stuff and David Millar is superb. I also listen to their podcast - Never Strays Far - which is quite good

    Re: Tour de France

I prefer to watch it on Eurosport, and that has nothing to do whatsoever with it being presented by Orla Chennaoui.
Sean Kelly is also guaranteed to let out the odd expletive aswell.

I have just started listening to that too. Thought that Cadel Evans made a good contribution too. Shame it was only a brief stint

Don't give fcuk about the fact he has a butcher's apron next to his name.

    He seems down to earth.

shame for him considering it's his last one.

Butchers Apron! Fek he wouldn’t like that, he’s from Manx family, Manx born, a few months before my son on the same ward. Outside racing season he lives & trains on the Island and he represents the Island at the Island Games & Commonwealth Games and is known as the Manx Missile.

    Triskelion.

He's getting closer, think he'd have won today if his chain hadn't slipped. But he defo still has the pace to be able to do it. He cant do it in Paris can he? surely thats just a fairytale too far!

    Re: Tour de France

Part of me doesn't want Cav to break the record. Sounds awful I know, but I love that 2 greats share an extraordinary record.
He's certainly got a chance though - VDP though is too good at the mo at leading out Phillipsen.
