Thanks for your report, Bob, interesting as always.

The biggest plus for me in this very good run of form is that City, for the first time since the last promotion season, seem able to figure out the opposition's weaknesses (whatever they may be) and then have the wherewithal to score at least once and hold out for the 90-plus minutes to collect the points. This may of course be due in part to Bulut's half-time instructions as well as Siopis' presence and athleticism in midfield; we've had no-one like him in the past decade.

This ability for a team to be able to 'work out' the opposition also reflects the tendency to score second half goals. Long may it continue.

Thanks, some interesting thoughts there and some good points made. The possession figures for our last two games back up your point - we had about twice as much possession against Rotherham as we did against Sunderland. In the past, although it didn't happen very often, the possession figure we had on Saturday (69%) would have just shown up our limitations when it came to creativity and, to an extent, they did on Saturday, but we found a way to score and it felt like there were more goals there if we had to go for them.

It's not been commented on too much because we only tend to score ones and twos, but we still haven't failed to score a goal in a competitive game this season and we have twenty goals from eleven matches in all competitions - last season we'd score just over a third of that number from our first eleven games. I suppose if there's one single reason why we're doing better, that's it.
