I've always been a glory hunter, as my first game was on March 11, 1961 when we beat Tottenham Hotspur 3 - 2. It was memorable for me, as it was the only game that my father ever took me to, but I well and truly got the bug.

Not quite 60 years yet. 10 February 1968 v Preston - 2-0 win and was Brian Clark's home debut; he scored after 9 minutes. Second was by my boyhood hero John Toshack.

Some great names in the team
    1 Fred Davies
    2 Steve Derrett
    3 Bobby Ferguson
    4 Malcolm Clarke
    5 Don Murray
    6 Brian Harris
    7 Barrie Jones
    8 Brian Clark
    9 John Toshack
    10 Peter King
    11 Les Lea

Archie Gemmill of Derby and Scotland fame was in the Preston team.

Bet in your first 30 yrs of supporting the Bluebirds, you never thought you’d see them field a weakened team in a major cup tie?

Can't remember the team, but this was the squad:
    First CCFC Game_Squad.JPG

Don''t remember much of the game (had just turned ten)....but didn't become a regular until start of 1959-60, starting with the opening game City 3 -Liverpool 2....with city scoring all goals courtesy of two Danny Malloy og's!), From that game onwards I didn't miss a single home game until the end of 1978 season,. when I moved to Newark. Occasional visit s back but mostly going to glamorous places like Chesterfield, Halifax, Mansfield etc....

    Don't forget....lots of info and memories onhttps://libertybs.co.uk/CCFC_memories/

    Re: Sixty years today.

My first game was on the 28th August 1950 against Manchester City in a second division match. The score was 1-1 with Elfed Evans getting our goal. The Man City side that day was:-

Trautmann, Phillips,Westwood, Spurdle, Rigby, Roy Paul, Oakes, Hart, Westcott, Smith, and Roy Clarke

I am not sure of City’s side, but would have been something like:-

Joslin, Rutter/Stitfall, Sherwood, Hollyman, Oakley, Billy Baker, Blair, Glyn Williams, Evans, Roley Williams, Edwards

Thank you very much for that, much appreciated! I wasn’t too far out with the names, but a few positional changes wrong as well - Eric Morecambe comes to mind for some reason!!!
