A protester, presumably from Just stop oil, got on the stage and poured what, for want of a better word, was sludge over him.
You should have watched. He was very good, even the Tory media commentators said so lol. And you missed his wife on stage at the end. A good looking woman.
I don't think the protester did him any harm. Had it been some Palestine type thing it may have or if there has been many of them, but he shook it off quite well. The guy was from some spin-off of Just Stop Oil. It does point to there being some problems from the left of the party in the next year but it was ever thus.
I listened to nearly all the speech. I don't find him enormously inspirational, but that's fine. I don't think the country is seeking that really. Was pleased to see him take the SNP to task too, and it shows that will be a clear battle ground.
He'll be happy with that and I think he did quite well.
I liked his recent quote:
Keir Starmer tells ITV News that…
“I’m very happy to work with The Sun, to write for The Sun, to do interviews for The Sun…”
Bloody Tory
The first part of his speech was the most interesting bit, where he was 'Glittered'. The rest of it was just as dull as my dish water. I know someone who did his bar exams with Starma, didnt speak too well of him - dull, no personality and would bore a witness into a submission.
I had it on in the back ground today - and it was the same of socialist rhetoric but just delivered in a monosyllabic tone. I thought he was going to bring the "Ed Stone" from the Milliband campaign...
Rachel (forget her surname) - the shadow chancellor was slightly better, Raynor was listenable if only for the humour. Good to see she has put her ginger growler away.
So far - none of the 'leadership' speeches have been up to much. Would have rather had a maths lesson with Dianne Abbott than go through that lost lunchtime hour again.
I think all Starmer and Labour need to do to win the next election is not **** anything up too dramatically. Starmer is perfect for that role as he's very beige. Will Labour do anything noteworthy in office? Probably not but that doesn't seem to be the main reason most people seem likely to vote for them. If they have as their election slogan "We're not the Tories" that should do the trick. Of course, Sunak could pull something out of the hat over the next year or so but it seems unlikely after their performance up to now.
Seems a nice chap
