The next Senedd election has to be before May 2026. Drakeford said when he won in 2021 that he wouldn't see out this term.

Is there anyone on here who would prefer it to be 30 than 20 outside your house?
Yes, it could be 100mph, but you'd have a job it's a small culdesac, I bought it because people wouldn't need to park outside my house to go to shops pubs etc and there would be no traffic.

I didn't buy one on a rat run and complain people are driving past my house or by a town centre or football ground and complain that people are parking outside my house.

That makes sense. So what you're saying is that only people who can afford to should feel that they and their kids/grandkids are safe outside their house?

It's worth considering that there are many elderly people living in these "rat runs" that weren't like that when they purchased, too...

There are cheap cul-de-sacs, the point is don't buy a house on a busy street and then complain because it's a busy street.

I have previously lived near a church and understood it would be busy on Sundays, and a funeral home and it was busy some days for a bit, I didn't moan or ask the council to stop people parking, I moved it was my choice to pick that house.

What do you propose we do close all the roads so it's quiet for everyone?

Cheap by what standards I should ask?
I should point out I'm not complaining, I live in a relatively quiet street, it's been 20 for a long time and I'm happy that it is. But I was getting to the point of a grumble about 20mph on a road near me recently when it was pointed out to me that despite being a "main" road, it was residential in strips all the way long.

I don't know why I or anyone else should have any more right for their family to be safer outside than anyone else, that's all.

No one has, it's a personal choice some people would prefer a bigger house on a busy street than a smaller cheaper house on a quieter street. The benefit is your money goes further as most people don't fancy living in busy traffic, the downside is it's noisy and cars drive past fast and you are living in busy traffic.

All I object to is those people saying everyone should now drive at 5mph outside my house because I live here now and I don't like your noise.

I think you and I probably live in quite different areas, Cardiff is as you describe in some parts, but in the valleys a lot of housing on main roads (rather than culdesacs) tends to be cheaper housing. Add into that a lot of rental properties where people who aren't in a position to buy for financial or other reasons live too.
I don't think i've got any more right to have safer roads outside than them.

When he goes there won't be an election, the labour group will have an internal vote on the next leader, just as they voted for him when he took over.

What sort of election do you have in mind? All leaders in uk are appointed by their party, the public don’t have a say at all.

So it turns out half a million didn’t turn out, going by the photo at the top of this report. Also, can anyone spot anything about the demographic of the photo of those who did. Answers on a postcard

Well I can’t tell their voting intentions. But certainly at more of a folicly challenged time of life where change is difficult. I didn’t think the weather was that bad, I wonder what else affected the turnout?

I think you'll find if you read my post that I didn't have any kind of election in mind. The clue is in the phrase "there won't be an election".

Funny that the people I know who voted ( part of the 400,000 plus) are nothing like the ones in the photo you mentioned. Cool story bro

But the only ones who thought they’d actually do something, something that would take longer than a click of a mouse button, something meaningful, who felt
Their time was worth it, were.

I wonder what the percentage of those who voted turned out to protest is. It’d be good to know the numbers who attended as maybe the other protests had thousands more than this photo would suggest

Who attended from this board - you and north Cardiff blue did I’m sure but who else?

just as an aside, I read the live reporting of the South Wales protest and I encourage you to read it in full. But the highlights:

    10:47 - They're off - entered the m4
10:50 - The convoy seems to have broken up
10:55 - the go-slow protestors are not going slow (did they forget?)
11:03 - the police are leading the protestors off at the A48 exit at Cardiff. There seems to be some confusion because some thought they would be going down the a470!
11:07 the "go slow" protestors are now being forced to go slow because the traffic is already so bad
12:46 Protesters gather outside senedd. Annette Jones who organised the convoy said "Drakeford and mr waters gave us a month and (said) we'll be used to it but the turn out today, more than the last convoy - people are certainly not getting used to it and getting more angry and frustrated. Our voices are not being listened to".

The number of protestors outside the senedd? Less than 50.
At this point, someone's waving a "Welsh Lives Matter" flag. FML.

After posing for photos outside the Senedd, protesters engaged in a discussion about how to proceed with with further protests. Some suggested arranging a piss up in a brewery may be more of a success.

If that's the country up in arms, I think maybe people don't care as much as we think.

I didn’t , I went to the match with my wife and family and a few friends

Just don’t distract from the fact that 400,000 plus of the electorate are not happy with the diktat. Just because its a click of a mouse button doesn’t mean it’s any less democratic.

There are unconfirmed report that the protestors were chanting "From the river to the sea, Welsh roads will be free..."

I'm expecting a nervous breakdown of epic proportions from some contributors of this board. They're obviously calling for Drakeford to be wiped off the face of the earth.

I myself are livid about this and care not one iota that driving at a stupidly slow speed on a motorway could indeed cost lives.

It's not really on is it?
