It comes as the Conservative government considers widening what it will consider to be extremism.

This has always been a deeply warped government programme - exposed for a right wing ideological bias, an ingrained Islamophobia, and increasingly as a vehicle for suppressing views the government doesn't share (and labelling them extremism in a bout of deep irony).

Now the Tories are ramping up their culture wars, blowing the dog whistles, and feeding their media mates with another load of deflection headlines.
It’s all they’ve got left to offer, particularly after the polls so far suggest that the latest budget went down like a lead balloon.
