Cardiff v Swansea: From Clowns Conference to Nemesis Nightmare II

It has been a cruelly embarrassing week for Swansea City as their freefall continues at a rate of knots. Perhaps the worst week since Tony Petty couldn’t pay their electricity bill when prize player Stuart Roberts was sold for the price of a three bed terraced house in Port Talbot.

    Swansea’s Nemesis Nightmares

Following a beating by one nemesis across the Severn Bridge in one nightmare, another Nemesis Nightmare looms, as on-form Cardiff City come to town and plan to park their tanks on their lawn. During the same week, the most embarrassing corner ever taken in football by Swansea was swiftly followed up by a “Clowns Conference” of their zombie fans goading a board that have the planning skills and focus of a nat. Along with dubious finances, they now bear all the signs of a club in dire trouble, which bears all the hallmarks of a chilling and accelerating doom.

The Grim Reaper unleashes Forces of Hell

At 12.30 tomorrow the referee will commence his role as judge, jury and executioner of Swansea City as he blows his whistle. Some would argue that in Swansea’s likely hammering, his role would will bear a closer resemblance to that of the Grim Reaper, unleashing the forces of hell.

For when the whistle goes there is no protection left, and nowhere to hide. From the ceremonious centre circle kick off, Swansea’s horror show will surely be unceremonious, as 90 minutes of the slow unstripping of their dignity unfolds. Exposed in broad daylight for the shambles that they are, the baying crowd in blue will likely move from chanting to mocking as the first goal for Cardiff hits the onion bag. No more time for cheap PR, promises, excuses nor empty words. Just the stark reality of facts and the total gulf between two rival cities exposed - in full view of the paying and global Sky Sports public. The opportunity for us to quietly chip away and close in on the play-offs lies in stark contrast to their high probability of oblivion.

    The Human Story

But away from competition of the league is the human side of the story. The story of a team that has gone through pain that is now turning to joy. Months of hard work and planning on the training ground converted into personal and professional pride. Having succumbed to savage budget cuts of recent years, coupled with the chopping and changing of squad and coaches, a tough nucleus of players made of granite have been born from the anvil of blood, sweat and tears. Like Gladiators in a Roman theatre this is the moment for them to show what they are. This is the opportunity for our on-form players to be heroes for the day, to capture the hearts of their adoring fans, and to go down in history as one of the rare Cardiff City teams to achieve the Double Derby - the joyful clubbing off both hated opponents in the same season.

I expect this to be recorded and inked into the history books at 14.15pm. It has been a long time coming.

Please stop it has a drubbing written all over it just to dispel this unheard of and probably unwarranted positivity - I'm a superstitious soul at heart
