3 of our last 4 wins have been against Ipswich, Coventry and Southampton. One has been promoted, one is in the playoffs and the other nearly made an FA cup final.
Meanwhile we've lost to an abject Swansea side, a Sunderland team who couldn't buy a win, Millwall and now we've been stuffed by Rotherham who were one of the worst teams in Championship history.
That almost sums up our season. We've had some great results. We've also had some shit results. 19 wins, 22 defeats. Extraordinary. It's virtually been one or the other.
We've either won tight or lost badly.
If we'd conceded 1 more goal in 6 of the matches we won by a single goal, then we'd be playing Wrexham next season.
If we had tried something new and conceded these goals I would say at least we tried something new. So frustrating the same kind of line ups, same formation.
Think our full backs maybe the bigger issue.
Not bad going forward ,not great at defending .
Keepers decent.
Got good holding midfielders .
We play awfully deep .
We finished above quiet a few including Swansea.
It’s no coincidence that Tanner and Romeo have been playing at the fullbacks these last two games.
I thought Tanner did some good things yesterday but he was far too high up the pitch and we conceded 5 against Rotherham.
So I’d disagree with the poster in this thread who says attack is the best form of defence.
Minus 17 goal difference tells its own story.
Has a team that’s finished in the top half of the championship ever had such a poor goal difference?
I think i remember Huddersfield making play offs a few years ago with negative goal difference but minus 17.
One for Eric.
We’ve conceded 70 goals, 12 more than last year when we finished 21st but he’s made us better defensively allegedly.
Only 3 teams in the division conceded more goals than us.
